EU VAT changes as of July 1st 2021
The EU is making some important changes to its VAT rules, which come into effect on July 1st 2021. This will impact many businesses that export into the EU (including us here at Nutmeg and Arlo) and will also impact our lovely EU customers too.
As of July 1st, our EU customers will be charged VAT on ALL orders, of all values. The under €22 exemption for small orders will no longer apply. The VAT rate varies for every country, so we advise you all to check this rate before buying from any shop outside of the EU.
If you purchase from this website - Nutmeg and Arlo - from July 1st you will be required to pay VAT on your order when it arrives in your country, plus any customs fees/import and handling fees.
If you order via our Etsy shop, you will be charged VAT at checkout, and will not be charged VAT on the arrival of your order in your country.
This is (quite understandably) very frustrating. Here in the UK, we have had to pay VAT on orders being imported for as long as we can remember, and it definitely puts us off ordering from international shops. We totally understand if people decide to shop closer to home in the future.
